Today was one of those days where every turn was filled with beauty.
We started out early-ish to get ahead of the crowds that come up for the day. Initially, we started on the K trail, then moved to C, and then H. Basically, we did a mishmash, and I think we had the best combination.
The national park is filled with lakes on different levels, causing waterfalls. The water is crystal clear and gorgeous, changing from a bright blue to sea foam blue/green.
The first stop was the big waterfall. In the dry season, it’s not very impressive, but the pictures on the side of it show that the rest of the year is pretty good. The best one was in winter when it freezes; we have never seen a frozen waterfall, and now it’s something we want to see.
Next up was the boat ride along the lake, slow and serene. The reflection of the mountains in the lake made for some beautiful photos. The kids got fed up with our photos, but the place was so pretty!
Then we went onto the boardwalks, exploring all the nooks and crannies of the lakes. We made it to the viewpoint that was built two months ago and hasn’t made it to the trail maps yet.
To keep the kids entertained, I told them an abridged and censored version of "Throne of Glass." They were so enthralled they didn’t realize we had done 18km.
We took the train back to the car park, using all the ways to get around the park. It’s definitely one of the prettiest parks, and I can easily see why it’s so popular in summer.
A soak in the hot tub was the best way to ease the tiredness and end the day.
