Drive to Fes

We liked our previous driver so hired him again for a drive to Fes.

He was great and stopped along the way buying us various local fruit as we had fed him that on our last journey. We got figs plucked by boys selling it on the roadside and then some delicious rockmelon. Aanya and I am not a fan of melon but really enjoyed these.

The landscape was very different to what we saw near Casablanca. The initial bit was filled with bushes and bushes of pink flowers. Later we passed fields that had just been harvested and there were large bundles of hay piled up in varying shapes.

In one of the towns cranes (or birds that looked like cranes) had taken over every electric pole and tall buildings. There were large nests on each of them, the minaret had quite a few.

On arrival to Fes, we got accosted by a man who helped us with our luggage and told us he knew our driver. We have booked him for a tour tomorrow around the Medina, let’s hope we don’t regret it.

After the long ride we needed a stretch and made our way around the one of the biggest and oldest medinas in the world. A lot of shops were closed as it’s Friday. We got to see a lot of sheep being transported by being dragged or placed in carts as families got ready for Eid. The kids got distressed watching the sheep bleating as they were being moved. They are contemplating going vegetarian, we passed by supposedly the 5th best Vegetarian restaurant in the world (as per trip advisor) and they didn’t want dinner there🙄.

Ended the night on the rooftop of our hotel, eating pizza, sipping mint tea and playing card games.
