A little late start to the day so the kids could attend some of their classes , Aanya really enjoys the science ones ,luckily it is one she can attend.
We then headed for another long drive to Charyn Canyon . We are avoiding school work in the drives this time so the kids can enjoy more of the landscape, they are listening to audiobooks so they can still look out . Savik has also taken to teaching Aanya how to solve the Rubik cube and improving his time .
Charyn Canyon was gorgeous and we made a fun drone video at the start . It’s 150km long and we were doing to walk 2.5km of it and take the shuttle back, then climb to the view point . It all didn’t go to plan and Savik got sick as we got to the bottom of the canyon . The walk seemed very long and hot , though very pretty it was not very enjoyable. Hot , hungry and not feeling well does not make for a good walk !
We headed to Saty Village after this where everyone perked up as the food was very delicious. Freshly made hot bread as well as Savik’s favourite fried bread set us up for a better evening.
We then headed to Kaindy lake , this lake formed after the 1911 earthquake blocked the river and make it rise leading to a lake which submerged the forest . So now the trees stand in the water, not thriving but not completely dead , in a limbo of sort . The water is a mix of blue and green , beautiful and icy cold . The white and yellow ducks with their ducklings add to the enchantment . There was one perched on top of one the trees and was so still you would think it was a statue .
After Charyn canyon it was good to be back to our normal selves of having fun . Trying to outstay each other in the water had us laughing as we were freezing .
At dinner we had a chat about tomorrow’s hike as it will be biggest the kids will have done . I think the good food along with the promise of IPad time on return has made everyone agreeable to give it a shot. Fingers crossed for it .
