Kota Kinabalu

We were bowled over by the breakfast buffet , the kids were running around like they had not seen food before . So excited with the dumplings, dosas , paarthas , churros , doughnuts and so much more .

We then headed to the floating mosque , it’s stunning. To enter it we had to wear clothing provided to us which included a hijab . Aanya and I think it’s the answer to our unruly hair in this weather . The kids highlight was watching three very little children working together to get mangoes from a tree in the courtyard. Two were on the tree and knocking the mangoes down with a stick while the third was fishing them out from a shallow stream as they fell .

Afternoon was spent escaping the heat in the pool followed by an interesting trip to Kokol Hill for the sunset . We hired a driver that we had used with Grab and went up but thanks to the rain the top of the hill was shrouded in fog . We went back to the midway point which is an expensive place filled with Instagram photo areas including a copy of the Bali Swing ( as advertised). They were having a slow day and allowed us in as cousins of the driver ( one tenth the price for Malaysians ). As we had nothing else on the agenda we got into the spirit of the place and took heaps of photos including some very cheesy ones .

On the drive down we saw a beautiful sunset and a rainbow .

We ended the day with one of the best seafood dinners I have eaten ( except for a very grumpy Savik sitting next to me as he dislikes anything seafood related ).
