Jeevan is the one in the family who gets least excited about his birthday but we all make up for it 😂.
After getting his cards and presents we headed to see the rest of Anuradhapura. Thanks to it being his birthday, no one complained about the heat or the walking or anything! We started at Isurumuniya temple and saw the famous Man and horse sculpture, it’s the logo for the hotel we are staying at so it’s on the walls and cutlery .
We then went to more temples and some ruins , the guard stone and the moonstone. The soles of our feet got slightly burnt at one place so we were much quicker at the rest of the temples . One of my favourite bits was at Samadhi Buddha where a policeman decided to be a guide and gave all the people a long run down about the place and the statue. Everyone gathered around him as he gave his sermon. Ice creams and coconut water after that to cool down and head to the hotel for the afternoon. There was a birthday message on the bed from the hotel ( which Aanya seemed to love more than Jeevan ).
The evening was spent at Mihintale . I love the fact that the temples are on the mountains so people have to stay relatively fit , lots of old people being helped along on the tracks . This is my first time here and Jeevan hasn’t been here as an adult either . As a family we really enjoyed it all , over 1850 stairs and then some tricky climbing at the top of the rock with beautiful views. Savik was in his element , scrambling up and finding new routes and hidden spots . He got to a place before us and was thrilled to be a given a huge camera to click photos for a couple, they complimented his photo skills making him even happier ( obviously we aren’t appreciative enough of his “talents “).
We had cake for dinner which was meant as a surprise for Jeevan . Savik was bursting with excitement and kept jumping up every time the kitchen door opened and running to Jeevan , this had us laughing so much.
A fun filled birthday doing things Jeevan likes with the people who love him .
