Anuradhapura

In the morning we headed to Anuradhapura (the first Capital of Sri Lanka). We are staying in the same hotel that Jeevan has stayed in every time he has come here. Good childhood memories for him to celebrate his birthday tomorrow.

A lot of the day was spent catching up on school work , trying to stay up to date. There was an experiment involving melting chocolate ( it was gobbled up later ) which was the highlight .

The evening was spent in the temple complex( Mahameuna Uyana). Started at Thuparamaya then walked along to Ruwanweli Maha Seya and Sri Maha Bodhiya and back to Thuparamaya.  We got lucky with the weather as it was cool, a thunderstorm came, so lots of thunder and lightning on the return walk but no rain till we reached the hotel .

We reached Ruwanweli Maha Seya at dusk and the lit lamps made it look so beautiful, the lights came on as we were walking around it . It glowed in the dark , so elegant in the backdrop of the night .

Ended up with a late night as the children decided to make very elaborate cards for Jeevan’s birthday tomorrow. They cannot wait to see his reaction tomorrow.
