Viana -Logroño- Barcelona

After a day of rest, we started our short walk with a spring in our step. The 10 km stretch was mostly flat and well-paved, so we made great time. We arrived in Logroño bright and early, found a place for my mother to stay, and headed out for pinchos.

My mum and I had visited Logroño in 2019, and the city holds fond memories for us. We enjoyed pinchos, drinks, and reminisced before it was time to say goodbye. I felt incredibly fortunate to have shared this one-on-one time with her, and though it was hard to part, I was so proud of her for undertaking the Camino and truly living in each moment.

However, my ongoing saga with Spain’s public transport continued. On the train, someone accidentally pressed the emergency button, causing it to stall. After an hour of waiting, we were ushered off and loaded onto another train, much to the surprise of the passengers already on board. They, in turn, were told to get off and take a bus! Despite the chaos, I found myself laughing. I missed my connecting train at Zaragoza, but somehow managed to wiggle my way onto another.

Arriving in Barcelona at 10 PM, I found myself torn. Despite the late hour, I decided to visit the Sagrada Familia. Having seen it twice over the past 13 years, I was eager to see how much progress had been made. The monument was as breathtaking as ever, nearly completed, and had come a long way since I first saw it in 2011. Just as I was marveling at the sight, Jeevan called, and I showed him around virtually. Barcelona is one of our favorite cities, and I missed not having him there with me.

Finally, I made it to my hotel and passed out, exhausted but happy.
