Luquin- Los Arcos- Sansol

We set off early in the morning, leaving Luquin behind as the fiesta continued. It was still dark for the first few kilometers, but the serenity of the quiet morning was calming. When the sun rose, it cast a beautiful glow over the landscape, and we had the path to ourselves for a while, enjoying the peace.

As the day unfolded, more walkers began to join us. We stopped for a break just as a food truck pulled in, perfectly timed for an omelette and coffee. In a small-world moment, the truck was run by volunteers who had dined with my mother a few days earlier, such a nice coincidence.

We arrived in Los Arcos earlier than expected, so we decided to continue the walk in the afternoon. After wandering, sipping sangria, and taking a nap in the park, we ended up leaving Los Arcos later than planned and had to cover 7 km in the midday heat. The road to Sansol offered no shade, and even with good company and music, the last 2 kilometers felt endless. Along the way, we discovered an almond tree and learned how to distinguish the sweet ones from the bitter. We also indulged in some blackberries and sampled a few grapes from a nearby vineyard, mindful that they belonged to someone else.

Finding a room for the night was a bit of a challenge, as the first place we tried was fully booked. Thankfully, we secured a spot and, though the food was sold out, a kind man went out of his way to make me the best sandwiches. He even gave me a box of paella I hadn’t ordered, along with a warm hug.

It was an exhausting day, but the kindness we encountered along the way made it truly special.
