Colonia Del Sacramento

Today was a day of discovery and simple joys in the old town. The broad walk along the water offered stunning views as we made our way into town, with tree-lined streets and little traffic enhancing the quiet charm of the place.

At the old city wall, we arrived at the gate with its quaint moat, just in time to spot a group of little children on a kindy excursion. Watching the teachers trying to corral the kids brought back memories of how much our two have grown. We couldn’t resist walking along the ledge on the wall—an easy feat for the kids, but I was proud for giving it a go! We took a moment to sit on a bench, enjoying the sweeping view, spotting vivid red and yellow birds flying by, and watching Savik’s delight as he launched his paper airplanes.

A stroll past the lighthouse brought a fun moment when Savik, having lost a bet, had to comb his hair for photos—thankfully! We also got a glimpse of history, with the remains of the Governor’s house and ancient waterways dating back to the Portuguese era.

Lunch was a highlight at a quaint café, where we found a stash of board games and the laughter continued. Aanya’s impromptu walking tour guide act had us all giggling, while Jeevan and Savik’s playful banter as tourists from "warring nations," Chau Chau and Miguel from Chau Chu, left us in stitches.

After a bit more wandering, we returned to rest up before dinner: our first family sushi night. The kids had always been hesitant about sushi and seafood, but the rave reviews convinced them to give it a try. The glowing feedback didn’t disappoint—we all loved it. We walked away agreeing that sushi is only worth eating at truly good spots!

It was a day full of laughter and lighthearted moments.
