Buenos Aires- Palmero

As the day ahead involved a lot of walking, we took an Uber to Plaza Italia. While we passed by numerous wonderful parks, the kids were disappointed to be in a car. Upon arrival, we noticed a large line outside a park and decided to check it out. To the children’s delight, it turned out to be the Ecological Park (the former zoo). It was quite a mishmash of animals, with many South American species roaming freely—prompting us to Google their names—alongside more exotic animals, ranging from hippos to bison. Peacocks were abundant, sharing space with capybaras and maras, which resembled Argentine wallabies. Jeevan was especially excited to see a tapir, and we all had a laugh watching him eagerly chase it around, trying to get a good photo.

After our unexpected detour, we continued along the art-lined streets of Palermo to the plazas with Sunday markets. We had lunch at an upscale restaurant housed in an old factory. Its layout and menu reminded us of Australia, and we enjoyed the vegetarian dishes.

The kids were eager to visit all the parks we’d seen on the way, so we headed there. We explored so many parks along the route—one even had a kids' treadmill. Savik climbed every structure, sometimes on the outside, which stressed some of the other parents. The last park featured a magic show, which we enjoyed despite it being in Spanish.

It was a fun-filled day with plenty of walking and laughter. We finished with ice cream and empanadas before the kids joined their school sessions—they seem to really enjoy it and hate missing even a single day.
