Udaipur - Cenotaphs, lakes and Ghats .

Savik was feeling a bit better so we went to see the rest of the things on our list . I really wanted to see the Ahar Cenotaphs after reading about them in a blog. They are the area where the kings (and their wives performing sati) were cremated and domes were built at the site to immortalise them. Our taxi driver, random dude on a motorbike and a man we met inside the campus gave us information about the area. The common thread I noticed is how proud they all are of their heritage and of being from Udaipur (the white city that has been undefeated). You can no longer enter the area of the Cenotoaphs but walk around the walls and admire them from the outside .

We then walked around the Fateh Sagar lake and it appears Maggi and momos have taken over India .

In the evening we went to Ambrai Ghat and there were two men taking an entrance fee , not sure how legitimate it is but the place is beautiful so it’s worth paying for it. The view is so pretty  that we went to the Ambrai Hotel for dinner. The kids got to witness their first wedding proposal, such a gorgeous backdrop for it .

Last night in Udaipur, even with the sickness, it’s been one of the best places I have been to in India .
